(This book takes place right before The Blacksmith and his Apprentice)
Gavin, the knight goes to the Royal Council meeting with important news. He says to Henrich the Third, the king of Capital city. Gavin says that the roads and borders aren't safe from mobs. Gavin also states that he's trying to find a blacksmith that can forge quicksilver, a new metal found by an alchemist toying with metal. Gavin asks if he can get Viegar to forge the quicksilver, as he has been in their ranks before. While Henrich is agreeing a man bursts in and tells them that they are under attack. Outside Capital city is in chaos. Everybody is running around but the Royal Guards take control, and tell them to go in their house and bar their houses. They fight the monsters. Gavin then goes to find Viegar.
